History of our Church

To the newcomers but also those who were here since the very beginning, we wanted to give you guys a rundown on Reclaimer College Church: who we are, how we got here, and the history that you get to continue creating and being a part of!

Who: 60 covocational ministers (those who have a full-time job AND do ministry) and 31 church plant interns (what’s a CPI? Read about them here)

What: To plant a collegiate church. Reclaimer College Church has the vision to reclaim the original mission of these college campuses through the same Gospel message. Our hope is that college students will meet Christ here and be empowered to lead a modern spiritual revival first across the city of Boston, then the country, and eventually the world.

When: In the summer of 2021.

Half of us landed on June 30, the other half on July 1. Before we all landed though, we had a lot of help settling and getting different apartments ready, picking up cars, etc. by our friends from our East Coast church plants (Pitt, DMV, Rutgers).

Where: Boston!

Did you know that Boston colleges have a rich Christian history? Along with Williams College and Harvard University (read about them on this blog), Northeastern University, Boston College, and Boston University all have Christian roots: Northeastern was founded by the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), Boston College by Jesuits, and Boston University started as a Methodist seminary. With almost 350,000 college students and many more recent grads or people who decided to stay in the city after graduating, where better to establish a gospel community?

How: A shared vision to launch lifelong kingdom workers from every college town, fueled by a common mission to share the gospel and make disciples of all nations. Co-vocational ministers (Christians who have regular full-time jobs in the day time and ministry with the rest of their days) fuel our church plants and ministries. And we couldn’t do it without one another and this share bond of the gospel!

In college, many of us got to experience the church as a people and found covenantal bonds and commitments to one another as that source of strength to set out and do His good work together. So join us as we try to live out Christian life together and ride through the ups and downs of college life and beyond.
